  • What is a ductless heat pump?
A heat pump is basically an air conditioner that works in reverse. Instead of having cold coils on the inside and heat coils on the outside, they are reversed. A heat pump has a switch (or thermostat) to change from the A/C function to the heating function. When in heat mode, it provides hot air to the home. When the switch is turned to A/C mode, the effect reverses, and the home is cooled. A blower pulls air from inside and circulates it against the coils, then blows cool air back to the home. A heat pump is tremendously energy efficient and will save money in energy costs compared to a traditional A/C and heating system. Newer units can be installed less expensively than a traditional gas unit. Plus, the heat pump can heat or cool a home up to 2.5x more efficiently than an A/C unit using electric power. This makes a heat pump a cost-effective and efficient option for homeowners. Heat pumps come in a variety of models to accommodate different sizes of installations. The size you choose depends primarily on the size of your home (or office). A rule of thumb is: most homes need a capacity of two to five tons to heat and cool the home adequately year round. Comparisons between models before making a decision is important when deciding if a heat pump is right for your home. Given the right factors, heat pumps will be a valuable addition to your home. Considering our type of climate and the source of fuel used in our area, you owe it to yourself to and your budget to take a look at using a heat pump.
  • Why is an annual service important?
Keeping your HVAC system running properly requires a yearly preventative service. This includes checking all electrical connections, changing filters, clearing debris or dust that may have accumulated, checking the drain pans and lubricating moving parts. Yearly maintenance helps maintain product warranty, and also helps save money on monthly energy bills. When your system is performing at its best, it doesnt have to work as hard to circulate air throughout the home, therefore decreasing the amount of energy used. Maintenance can also prevent unwanted, costly repairs, and it can extend the lifespan of your system. You can improve the air quality in your home by having your ducting cleaned out annually as well. The air in your home is being recycled several times a day, it is easy to overlook the dust and allergens being circulated through your air daily. This is especially important for families with pets, or people with allergies or respiratory issues.
  • Do you offer financing?
The cost of your new system shouldn't hold you back from being comfortable in your home! We are proud to work with Tacoma Power to provide loans and financing options. Call us today to find out more information, and find out which system will work best for you.
